Consumption flexibility solutions and monitoring consumption from your phone

Flaire - A fair, flexible and resilient energy system

The Flaire project investigates the possibilities and obstacles of solutions based on consumption flexibility in households and municipalities in order to increase the change flexibility and low carbon of the energy system.

We focus on customer-side consumption flexibility solutions, such as reducing overall energy consumption and shifting consumption during periods of grid congestion or high electricity prices. Flaire assesses the feasibility and fairness of consumption flexibility solutions and aims to increase consumer awareness and confidence, especially in automated solutions.

There is interest in both information-based solutions based on consumer activity and also smart home energy management systems. These are designed to save consumers money, reduce environmental impact, and maintain the balance and resilience of the energy system.

Project objectives

The project will study socio-technical solutions for energy transition and their prerequisites. The aim is to support a fair and equitable energy transition. To promote this, new knowledge on energy poverty and consumer vulnerability will be generated, as well as on the challenges and potential of consumption flexibility.

The project will carry out pilot experiments in consumption flexibility, and organise a climate conference for citizens to discuss energy. The project will also create energy management solutions and energy system models. Fair transition pathways will also be developed

The information and solutions produced by the project will contribute to consumer participation in consumer choice. The main objective of the project is to improve the resilience of the energy system and households, i.e. their ability to adapt to the challenges created by the energy transition.
